A harvest festival is a great way to celebrate fall. It can be a fun activity for a school, class, church, neighborhood block party, or even a children’s birthday party. Scroll to the bottom of this page for printable game and points signs.
Pumpkin Ring Toss
Get a large piece of cardboard or wood and paint a pumpkin or two. Poke or drill holes into the board and place over-the-door hooks through them. Toss small rings onto the hooks.

Hook a pumpkin
Buy several mini pumpkins and metal hooks that screw in. Saw off the stems and screw the hooks into the tops of the pumpkins. Fill a large bucket with water and use a toy fishing rod to hook the pumpkins.

Bobbing for Apples
Nope! Definitely don’t play your grandma’s version of this classic game! Instead, play a much more sanitary version. Give large spoons to children to hold behind their backs to try and pick up an apple without seeing the bowl. Or, have a long wooden spoon that children can hold under their armpit. Either way, they’ll have just enough of a challenge without getting their mouths in the water.

Leaf Tic-Tac-Toe
Decorate a large piece of cardboard and divide it into nine squares. Place hook-and-loop dots in the center of each square, with the matching side on foam fall leaves.

Leaf Plinko
Get a wood peg board or large piece of cardboard and poke holes into it. Buy pegboard inserts and glue painted wooden leaves onto them. Place at angles to allow a ping-pong ball to bounce down on them.

Corn Toss
Place several baskets on stacks of hay bales or any other ascending counter. Place a basket of corncobs (with the husks still on) about a yard or two away.

Pumpkin Sweep
Buy at least a dozen small bales of hay and create a small maze with them. Place a small pumpkin (or two, to race) and brooms by one end for children to sweep through the maze.

Leaf Pop
Get a large piece of cardboard or wood and paint a tree trunk and branches. Blow up orange, yellow, and red balloons to make fall leaves.
Poke or drill holes into the board and push the balloon necks through. Hold in place with tape. Place a thumbtack through the back of the board and hold down with tape as well.
Toss beanbags to hit the balloons against the thumbtacks.

Poke a pumpkin
Grab a large piece of cardboard and paint a pumpkin in the middle.
Use a pencil to poke two holes onto the bottom or orange paper cups. Put long twist-ties through and poke matching holes onto the cardboard. Twist the twist-ties behind the cardboard to keep the cups in place. Fill the cups with a small prize, and cover with orange tissue paper and a rubber band.

Pumpkin Ring Toss
Grab several pumpkins and a hula hoop. Use black marker to write points onto the pumpkins.

Acorn Toss
Buy some autumnal decorative paper and cover empty food cans with it. Collect acorns from your lawn or the park and place in a basket to toss into the cans.

Pumpkin Hoop Shots
Grab a toy basketball hoop and decorate it to be more autumnal.
Cover toilet paper rolls with orange tissue paper and tie together with green pipe cleaner and a fabric leaf or green tissue paper cut to look like a leaf.

Corn Ring Toss
Use actual corn or yellow and green paper on food canisters to create corn cobs. Grab some tossing rings and set them up at a distance that’s achievable with some effort.

Apple Toss
Saw holes (a pumpkin carving knife works well) into a piece of thick cardboard and paint it to look like a tree. Attach it to a crate and toss real or toy apples through it.

Leaf Darts
Use a hook-and-loop dots on the board and throw balls from a hook-and-loop dart game at them.
