Revelation

If you have ever flown to another country you needed a passport to get in. It shows what country you belong to. But people who follow Jesus have another place they belong to: God’s Kingdom. And our passport to Heaven isn’t a thing, it’s a Person….Jesus.

Jesus invites every person on earth to follow Him and be a part of His Kingdom. You don’t have to pay a membership fee to join. You don’t have to pass a test. You don’t have to have any special skills. The only thing God wants is for you to say yes to His invitation.

John was one of Jesus’ best friends when He was on earth. When Jesus returned to Heaven, John told everyone he knew about Jesus. Some people didn’t like what John had to say about Jesus, and put him in jail.

While John was there, Jesus appeared to him right in his room. Jesus told John not to worry about the problems he was having on earth. Earth is just our temporary home. Friends of Jesus will live forever in heaven. Jesus revealed to John what heaven would be like…That’s why we call it his revelation.

John saw Jesus sitting on a throne. Everyone was bowing down to Him. There were people from every country on earth, from every group on earth, speaking every language on earth. They all worshipped Jesus as one family. No one paid attention to their differences. Only that they were all human.

Then John saw a brand new city floating down from the sky. Everything in the city was made of gold. He heard a loud voice shout “God’s home is now with His people. He will live with them, and they will be His own.”

From the throne Jesus said, “I am making everything new. I am the beginning and the end. I will freely give forever-life to anyone who comes to Me. I will be their God, and they will be My people.”

John saw that in heaven there is no more sadness, or falling down and getting hurt, or fighting with friends, or losing people we love. Everything is perfect and everyone is happy all the time. Jesus told John that He will come back again one day. He will come to trade the old world for a new one that will be perfect.

Jesus wants us to say yes to His invitation to live with Him forever. He won’t force anyone to come, only those who choose to. We don’t know when Jesus is coming back to bring the new heaven and earth. But we know that He loves us, and He has a plan. Jesus wants us to wait patiently for His special timing.
