Morning Work

Use these pages for a first activity of the day (aka, “Morning Work”). Each one varies in style a bit to keep students on their toes and is designed to get in just a bit of thinking without overwhelming students with work. Check back at the end of each month for the next round Daily Brain Warm-Ups. Or subscribe to get notified about them each month.

Stickman

Use these templates to play the traditional hangman game with your class. You can print out for partners to play on paper, or project onto your whiteboard to play together as a class. With letters written at the bottom and items to draw clearly labeled, you won’t have to worry about all the normal arguments that come up with this game.

Have children draw different people, animals, or made-up creatures on each page. Students then staple all pages together and cut on the dotted lines. The result will be a fun flip book they have made themselves to mix and match funny looking people or creatures.

Other ways to use this are making mix and match monsters for Halloween, having students draw themselves at the beginning of the year and making it a book for the classroom library, or drawing how to dress for each season.
