Magazine Grammar Review

Print these pages for a fun way to review grammar principles taught in class. Just grab a bunch of magazines (the type that come as “junk mail” are ideal as you’re both recycling and they tend to be more kid-friendly). Children cut out a picture (or you can have a pile of pictures pre-cut if preferred), and glue onto the page. Have children write the sentence in pencil first. Then, after you have checked it, they can trace over with pen and highlight the featured word(s).

Grammar Adlibs

Use these slides as a fun way to reinforce parts of speech as they are taught. Have students write a word or phrase matching the assigned part of speech on index cards. Check that the correct part of speech has been written, then collect all index cards in a container. Project the Grammar Adlib onto the board. As you read the story, randomly pull index cards out of the container to fill in the blanks. Use magnet clips (or tape if your board is not magnetic) to hold index cards in place over the blanks.
